The temple build

The temple project

A complete Hindu temple in the South Indian Dravidian style — vimana, granite murtis, Berlin address. It opens on 7 June 2026.

An interim space served for twenty years as a beginning. In June 2026, the goal stands complete: a full Hindu temple in the Dravidian style on Hasenheide — with a 17-metre gold-clad Raja Gopuram, consecrated murtis, and a hall large enough to hold the whole community at Ganesh Chaturthi.

Tradition from Mahabalipuram — hands shaping granite.

Stone, hand, voyage

Mahabalipuram, India — to Berlin-Neukölln

The plans come from the sthapati office V. Ganapati Sthapati & Sons in Mahabalipuram — the same family that has been designing temples from Toronto to Singapore for generations. Black granite is quarried on the spot in Tamil Nadu and worked by hand; the vimana is reassembled stone by stone here in Berlin. Every column carries the mark of its sthapati.

How you can carry the build

Three paths, one effect

Every cent that doesn’t pay our pujari becomes visible in stone. Donations are tax-deductible under §10b EStG; we issue a Zuwendungsbestätigung for amounts above €300.

  1. An online donation or bank transfer

One-off or standing order. Berliner Volksbank, IBAN DE… (see the donation page). Online via Stripe — receipted instantly.
  2. A life membership

A one-time contribution, a lifetime bond with the temple. For families who want a permanent tie to the house.
  3. A foundation tier — Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum

Four tiers from €5,000 upwards. Your gift carries a defined section of the build — with naming at the temple if you wish.
  4. An hour of sevā on a festival day

Preparing annadanam, greeting guests, setting the room. Not a donation, but the same effect.
