Satyanarayana Pooja is one of the most powerful family poojas. It is traditionally performed on Purnima (full moon), at a house move, a promotion, or an anniversary.
The pujari recites the five Kathas — stories that show what happens when promises to the divine are made and kept (or broken). Afterwards everyone shares the Mahaprasadam: blessed food made of bananas, milk, honey and yoghurt, eaten together.
